In THE NEVERENDING Epic, Bastian Bux (Barret Oliver) is an average student who finds himself repeatedly being abused by bullies who like to remove his money and throw him into dumpsters. Bastian’s mother is monotonous and both he and his father are calm trying to cope with the loss. However, Bastian’s father is a realist and thinks that Bastian spends too grand time drawing pictures, reading books, and daydreaming. He wants his son to buckle down and gain serious about school and life. He means well, but his advice doesn’t do mighty to improve Bastian’s condition. Eventually Bastian ends up meeting a uncommon bookstore owner that leaves a book, “The Neverending Anecdote”, where Bastian is able to borrow it. Bastian sneaks away to the attic of his school, locks himself in, and begins reading. The anecdote is a curious record about a region called Fantasia, a seeming endless world filled with countless creatures of every shape and size. Fantasia is under attack by an unknown force known as the Nothing that destroys everything in its path. The Childlike Empress (Tami Stronach) selects the noteworthy warrior from the plains people, Atreyu (Noah Hathaway) to go on a dart and accumulate the one person who can assign Fantasia from total annihilation. Atreyu sets forth on a long, difficult dart, traveling all over Fantasia, but no one seems reliable of helping him. As Atreyu journeys, Bastian secretly accompanies him and shares in all of his adventures. The book reads like none other that Bastian has ever read and it seems that he is a section of the tale. As the Nothing grows stronger, Bastian has to resolve if he will give into reality of what he sees around him or allow his imagination acquire control.

In THE NEVERENDING Epic II Bastian (Jonathan Brandis) is once again transported to Fantasia. Bastian is no longer threatened by bullies, but is instead taunted by his classmates when he joins the dive team. His father (John Wesley Shipp) misguidedly prods Bastian into overcoming his fears. Frustrated, Bastian returns to Mr. Koreander’s bookstore and though he is warned that the tale in “The Neverending Epic” doesn’t remain the same, Bastian borrows the book and ends up returning to Fantasia. Upon entering Fantasia, Bastian finds that he has the symbol of the childlike Empress, Auryn, around his neck. He is informed by the giant bird Nimbly (Martin Umbach) that anytime he makes a wish, the power in Auryn will gain the wish near suitable. However, there is a unlit secret to Auryn. To set Fantasia, Bastian must derive out Auryn’s secret, defeat the rotten witch Xayide, and finish the Emptiness from interesting Fantasia.

Of the two movies, THE NEVERENDING Fable is a far noble film that its sequel.

The DVD doesn’t offer many extras. On THE NEVERENDING Myth side of the disc, there are some notes about the book and characters and a trailer for the film. THE NEVERENDING Record II side has a trailer, cast & crew list, and a word meander game called “Bastian’s Challenge.” Also, both movies are shown in paunchy veil and not widescreen.

The unique NeverEnding Yarn movie was a masterpiece. A complete work of art. I remember watching that movie when I was a kid, it amazed me. I glimpse today, and it amazes me how it peaceful draws me into that narrative so easily. In my notion, it is a pure fantasy world with no flaws, in acting, in position, in direction, in visuals; the characters are all wonderfully current and well played.

*sigh* Now…to the sequel.

Besides the fact that every single character was recast (aside from the bookkeeper? ), and besides the fact that every character has a mark unique personality which contradicts how they were in the first movie. Besides the fact that Bastian had brown hair in the first movie, and now all of a sudden he has blonde hair. Apart from the fact that Bastian’s dad has quite the receding hairline in the first movie, and now, in the sequel, where’d that fat head of hair reach from? Aside from the fact that Falcor turned lifeless for something reason. Apart from the fact that Atreyu, the heroic warrior in the first movie, turns into a confused sidekick that can only divulge broken english now…

*sigh* aside from all of that…

The thing that gets me the most, throughout the sequel they call the Empress, “The Child-like Empress”… *sigh*

…She is not child-like; she is, in fact, unbiased a child! “Child-Empress”!!!

The magic that was the first movie disappeared in the second. I reflect the thing that sets the movies apart the most, a thing that hurts the sequel quite a bit, is the fact that we have to views of the narrative, in the current, Bastian’s point of thought as he reads the book, and then Atreyu’s and the others opinion from inside the fable.

With the NeverEnding Anecdote II, there is no outside belief. It’s very linear, inside the memoir only, except of course, advance the destroy, when the father starts reading the book, but the adult point of plan doesn’t fit in very well with the sage.

I impartial popped in The NeverEnding Sage into my VCR. The visuals are radiant, the Fantasia world in the current movie is so well thought-out, and obviously so. But there’s something lacking with the sequel, it seems like you’re in a different, low-budget version of Fantasia.

But if you’ve lasted with me this long, here’s my advice:

The new movie is, no doubt, a must have in anyone’s movie collection. If you must watch the second one, fair to survey how dreadful it is (if you haven’t seen it already), borrow it from someone or rent it, but don’t take it. It’s not worth the money.

Thanks to William Lustig and the noble folks at Blue Underground, serious fans of cinematic weirdness can check out the numerous films of Franco Prosperi and Gualtiero Jacopetti. Who are Prosperi and Jacopetti, you ask? Reliable inquire. Before checking out this awesome eight disc shrimp edition area, I knew runt about these two Italian filmmakers. I once heard about “Mondo Cane” years ago, but had never investigated further. Thanks to the voracious appetites awakened in the masses with the advent of DVD technology, I finally got the chance to acquaint myself with this film and the others that followed it. What an experience! The eight discs in the status consist of “Mondo Cane,” “Mondo Cane 2,” “Women of the World,” “Africa Addio: The Director’s Reduce,” “Africa Addio: English language version,” “Goodbye Uncle Tom: English language version,” “Addio Zio Tom: The Director’s Cleave,” and an interview disc with the two directors created especially for this region called “The Godfathers of Mondo.” So what does it all mean? According to these discs, the two filmmakers birthed a phenomenon that led directly to the unusual spate of reality-based media. Most of these films are documentary style epics showing our world–or at least how it looked attend in the 1960s–in all of its bizarre and frivolous forms. “Mondo Cane,” by the plan, translates as “A Dog’s World.” An reliable title when you witness the films, to be clear.

Nothing will prepare you for the nightmarish images in “Addio Zio Tom,” (Goodbye Uncle Tom) a film made to counter charges of racism stemming from the “Africa Addio” experience. Fashioned as a sort of pseudo documentary where the filmmakers go relieve in time and visit the American South during the slave era, the movie is a grim watch at the degrading conditions faced by Africans brought here as chattel. Every scene is absolutely mind blasting stuff, a horrific recreation of such abhorrent activities as the breeding of slaves, the formulation of scientific racism, hunting down and killing escaped slaves, the sickening conditions of the slave ships, the slave markets, and a billion other objectionable situations. There is no denying the importance of the films of Gualtiero Jacopetti and Franco Prosperi as they have influenced everything from hardcore awe films ie Cannibal Holocaust to broadcast news and the reality TV craze of today. Blue Underground in an ambitious recede have place out this grand 8 disc box location (diminutive to 10,000 copies) which should more than satisfy any mondo fan.

The first two discs are Mondo Cane and Mondo Cane 2. Mondo Cane is certainly a milestone and in fact this entire genre of “grisly documentaries” which where made by Euro filmmakers is better known as the ‘mondo’ genre. Essentially Mondo Cane is a unusual rush into some of the more bizarre and macabre places with the camera voyeuristically witnessing all kinds of oddities and bringing them support for the though-provoking viewer. Mondo Cane 2 continues this tradition. The third disc Women of the World is similar but all the footage is tied together by a popular theme of the varied roles women play in different parts of the world.

The next 2 discs are the cleave English language version of Africa Addio and the Italian language uncut version. Goodbye Uncle Tom is clearly a one of a kind spectacle and in my humble notion the best disc in the plot.

The final disc is a doco on the filmmakers themselves, rounding out what is an awesome boxset!

However, Warner Bros’ “Romeo Must Die”/”Cradle 2 the Grave” location is a formidable double-team that breaks the subpar standard of these collections and delivers the complete package where both of these films are concerned.

Regardless of the contents of the films themselves (you’d have to have been living under a rock not net Andrej Bartkowiak’s 2000 genre-bending Jet Li/Aaliyah vehicle and its indirect sequel co-starring DMX), both include all of the special features found on the individual releases: “Romeo” features 13 making-of featurettes, three music videos, trailers, and DVD-ROM features; “Cradle” includes five featurettes, a DMX music video, the theatrical trailer, and DVD-ROM features. Both films feature English and French language tracks and corresponding subtitles (“Cradle” also has Spanish ones) and, yes, both are featured in 2.4:1 widescreen.

I’m a bit disappointed that the middle act of Bartkowiak’s quasi-trilogy (Exit Wounds, starring Steven Seagal) wasn’t included on here, but I speak Warner Bros. figured that Jet Li sells heavenly darn well on his believe. It’s frigid to have these two films together on one disc, seeing as their similarities in style fabricate for an obliging comparison opportunity and obedient companions for a movie night. Flight 005 Consiparcy – (10/10) It’s Chief Gooley’s worst nightmare approach right. The heavenly Angels are assist on the job, but it’s time the 3WA’s Centeral Computer has assigned them two cases at the same time.

Ah, reliving archaic memories. Alright now, I for one am a Dirty Pair fan. This place contains all three of the movies which is Affair on Nolandia, Flight 005 Conspiracy, and Project Eden.

Flight 005 Conspiracy – The movie runs for 50 minutes. The summary is about the two Blooming Angels (Don’t call them the Dirty Pair unless you want a broken nose), Kei and Yuri being handed two cases at once. They have to investigate a status liner explosion where three hundred people died (no one came foreward to claim insurance money), and catch a missing scientist and his family.

Project Eden runs for 90 minutes. This time Kei and Yuri move to a planet rich with Vizorium, a mineral valuable to site proceed. However, the mines have been under attack which leads Kei and Yuri to a enraged scientist who wants to steal the aliens to their final evolutionary produce.

Affair On Nolandia runs for 50 minutes, the animation here is different than the other two, giving Kei and Yuri a more adult eye. This time Kei and Yuri have to collect a missing girl. However, there is more than meets the witness when they collect her and the state thickens.

Frankly, if you like anime from the eighties, this should be an valid take for you. Kei and Yuri are silly and often violent. But the series isn’t about unbiased them, though he may not occupy the cover, Muhgi, their comrade who looks like a colossal occupy dog, is someone you should drop in adore with. Oh and, despite the sign, the Dirty Pair is in no means a hentai (Pornographic) anime series. So those buying it for that purpose will be dissappointed.

Street of a Thousand Pleasures is basically one long excuse to gaze naked women, which it allows the viewer to do very well. The status is very thin, an American (played by John Tull of Sassy Sue and Midnight Plowboy fame) saves the life of a sheik, who in gratitude reveals his harem, which is basically a hundred girls standing around naked. It seems like the film was originally intended for 3-D, as the camera zooms in and apparently up against breasts, belly buttons, etc. This film does have some simulated sex, with tons of frontal nudity. Despite this, it eventually gets wearisome, Tull’s character wanders from one room to another looking at the girls, which he’s more eager in than actually having sex with the girls throwing themselves at him. Uschi Digard and Michelle Angelo are in the film briefly, the rest are a mix of cute and skanky.

Mondo Topless is your basic 60′s T&A, with no frontal nudity and not powerful in the blueprint of region to recommend it. The extras are proper if sometimes a itsy-bitsy unfamiliar, mostly 60′s nudie type stuff. Breast Orgy does have some corpulent nudity although like Thousand Pleasures gets wearisome after a while.

Is the guy who wrote the previous review stupid or somethin’? How could looking at hundreds of different naked women ever be humdrum? Street of a Thousand Pleasures has some of the most glowing women you’ll ever peer in a movie, period. I was expecting Plot Out Topless to be more like Russ Meyer’s Mondo Topless (a classic of the genre) so I was a diminutive dissapointed but there’s plenty of vintage teasin’ action to be seen. Pasties and g-strings are the thing here, bub!

Lord Slug is a marginal improvement, with better fight scenes and more scenarios that let the whole Z-Team shine – but the legend feels plagiarized from the recent Dragon Ball’s King Piccolo Saga. They’re gracious movies for the Dragon Ball completists, though not the best in the series by any means.

I want to sure something up for some of the confused fans – while these “Double Features” chop the movies, this was always the arrangement. These movies were made with cropping in mind, so as to fit them on Japanese cinema screens. So you’re actually seeing the movies in the aspect ratio Toei intended (this does NOT apply to the cropped Trunks/Bardock space from a few months befriend, though – those were made for TV, and were indeed cropped without it being the scheme.)

Also, for anyone who cares, like the current series season sets, here you can eye the English dialogue with the Japanese background music. Of course the dub sucks, so do yourself a favor and stick with the current Japanese.

This disc is packed with stuff! There are the two movies with their very coy nudity (glimpse as the ladies artfully stand with their legs covering the ‘rude’ bits or with towels/papers/hats draped over their midsection. The recount is a well-behaved restoration of some unpleasant quality (dilapidated poorly preserved) originals, but it is smooth very watchable. The movies themselves are not spectacular in their site but smooth fun and consuming.

The extra’s (of which there is over an hour) are the share de resistance. You find trailers from 6 nudism related movies, extra footage from The Naked Venus, four shorts on nudity, a heap of poster art/production stills from various nudity related movies (with radio discussions over the top) and an easter egg of a nudist wedding.

About half of the extra’s are in gloomy and white (as is The Naked Venus) . Some have been restored to very wonderful quality but one or two are almost unwatchable. There is virtually no tubby frontal nudity, but lots of breasts and bottoms.

Everything is from the 50′s and 60′s and looks it (even naked, you can assert the era from the hair/makeup (sometimes this is caked on) and the cars) . If you’re alive to in the history of nudity or nudity in films then this is highly recommended.

I finally broke down and purchased my first double feature from Something Irregular Video. I’ll have to admit I wasn’t expecting very distinguished, because while some of these low-budget films from the slack fifties/early sixties are delectable in a campy device, a lot of them are aesthetic dumb or impartial tiring, expressionless. Consequently I’m overjoyed to say that these two miniature movies turned out to be quite though-provoking.

First up is DIARY OF A NUDIST, a color film about a newspaper reporter whose editor sends her on an assignment to order the unsightly goings-on at a nudist camp. The acting in this one is contemptible, and the filmmaking is hopelessly amateurish, but there’s a positive innocent charm about the whole thing that makes it fun to explore. The actress who plays the reporter is rather cute and enchanting, and the film has a relaxed, take-your-time feeling that really suits the subject matter. The music gain is kind of catchy, too, and features a dreamy instrumental version of “You’re My Thrill.”

The second feature, THE NAKED VENUS, is actually quite impressive. In some ways it has the eye and feel of a B&W European art film. The chronicle, centering around a controversial divorce case, is well constructed and the performances (particularly by the actor and actress who play the lawyers) are aesthetic darn salubrious. This one really held my attention until the very extinguish. Loved the courtroom scene — the expressions on the judge’s face are priceless.

In terms of nudity, there isn’t anything outrageous or tasteless here. It’s unbiased people having a relaxed time with their clothes off. All in all, with two capable tiny films and some intelligent extras, I’d say this disc is definitely worth the impress of admission.

For the US release of Hammer’s fourth Dracula film (only the third to actually feature Christopher Lee, the Count sitting out Brides of Dracula), Warner Bros. faded a one-sheet of a woman’s neck with a sticking plaster on it, following the title Dracula Has Risen From the Grave with the single word ‘Obviously.’ The film itself, however, is anything but tongue-in-cheek, and played deadly straight with a conviction the series gradually lost over the years. It’s probably the best-looking of all the Hammer Dracula sequels, and also the first where Christopher Lee actually speaks. As usual he’s almost a background figure for mighty of the film, with the bulk of the film carried by Barry Andrews’ atheist student romancing Veronica Carlson’s niece of Rupert Davies’ Monsignor, who inadvertently starts the blood flowing again when his attempt to exorcise Dracula’s castle only results in the Count being revived from his frosty grave by blood from a convenient slice. Finding himself cast out of his home and aided by Ewan Hooper scared priest (Renfield presumably being otherwise engaged), Dracula determines to lift his revenge on Davies and his kin, stopping off en route for a light snack with Barbara Ewing’s busty redheaded barmaid.

On the plus side it does restore the censor cuts of about half a dozen gallons of blood spurting from Dracula’s chest after he gets staked and includes the fresh trailer.

Taste the Blood of Dracula follows on so directly from Dracula Has Risen From the Grave that, after one particularly bizarre portion of deus ex machina that borders on the inspired, it begins with Roy Kinnear literally stumbling into the last scene of the movie. On a less welcome stamp it also marks the point at which an increasingly reticent Christopher Lee was reduced to a cameo figure as the Count – it’s not until the halfway point that he’s resurrected in a less than convincing point to of special effects. Until then remarkable of the film is carried, and rather well, by Geoffrey Keen’s Bible-bashing strict disciplinarian Victorian dad, the kind of man you can dwelling your observe by as he sets off to do `charity work’ in the East Slay with his well-behaved friends John Carson and Peter Sallis saving fallen women – about two each once a month in Roy Hudd’s brothel discreetly located in the backrooms of a soup kitchen. It’s there that he and his pals are surprised playing horsie by Ralph Bates’ dissolute disinherited aristo who has sold his soul to the Devil and offers to broker the same deal for them if they’ll engage Dracula’s cape and blood for him, reasoning that “Having tried everything that your narrow imaginations can suggest, you’re bored to death with it all, true? ” Naturally it all ends badly with Bates getting a severe case of indigestion after drinking the blood of the title and getting kicked to death by his modern friends, conveniently providing Dracula with a recent body and a current mission – to ruin all three men through their children (a typical role-call of amply-bosomed totty, future BBC regulars and supporting actors who never made it to the major leagues in the forms of Linda Hayden, Isla Blair, Martin Jarvis and Anthony Higgins in the days when he was unruffled calling himself Anthony Corlan) while Michael Ripper’s ineffectual detective displays a pronounced lack of interest in the mounting body count.

The notion of the sins of the fathers being revenged by their children is a kindly one, offering both a shapely twist and a reason for Lee’s extremely cramped cover time that keeps him very grand to the sidelines until the disappointing finale, but it’s certainly one of the more enthralling sequels and, a couple of lapses such as the resurrection scene aside, boasts genuine and atmospheric direction from Peter Sasdy with some surprisingly pretty camerawork. It’s also the last of the Hammer Draculas that looks like they spent some money on it – when they churned out Scars of Dracula the same year, it looked like they’d spent all their money on this one and had only pocket change and whatever was left over in the studio wardrobe for that!

Warner’s DVD offers a honorable widescreen transfer with the current trailer as the only extra.

I’ve got to net one thing out of the diagram first, for all those who didn’t like Terminator 3. As for the cast, Lena Headly is no Linda Hamilton, but her voice-overs became more and more convincing and even poignant as the episodes progressed. And of course, what sci-fi geek didn’t salivate over the news of Firefly – The Complete Series’s Summer Glau being cast in the pivotal role of female cyborg Cameron. And considering John Connor has been played by 3 different actors, Thomas Decker acquits himself quite well. He’s less irritating than Edward Furlong, by a long shot.

If the note has a flaw, it’s that at times it does feel a dinky too familiar. One has to wonder how long the writers will be able to preserve Sarah and John’s plod, without really damaging the integrity of the film series. And I realize CGI is the norm for special effects these days, but give me a Genuine metal (or at least plastic that looks like metal) endoskeleton over this computer-generated mess any day.

I judge The Sarah Connor Chronicles is a resplendent continuation of the Terminator universe. No, it’s not that rare series that’s actually BETTER than the movies (OK, it’s not THAT rare in sci-fi…gawk Stargate SG-1 – The Complete Series Collection or Buffy The Vampire Slayer – Collector’s Area (40 discs) ), but it’s certainly among the best t.v. adaptations of movie storyline. With gargantuan casting, well-executed action, and suprisingly sparkling writing, it’s a winner.

It’s a rare thing that a TV series based upon a movie’s premise ends up being as genuine as the show’s origins: while dreary to begin, with a unpleasant pilot and many sub-par episodes, the first series of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, over-all, became something that arguably lived up to that standard.

The best performances are arguably by Summer Glau and Richard T Jones, as Cameron – a Terminatrix sent abet to protect the Connors – and James Ellison – the surprised FBI agent chasing Sarah Connor – respectively. Glau’s performance, while initially confused, provides depictions of humour and coldness that surprises or shocks the viewer every time.

This DVD site is reasonable for what you pay for, reflecting the short nine-episode hurry of the first season, slash short due to the 2008 Writer’s Strike. The region includes a few commentaries and prick scenes. The aforementioned “Demon Hand” episode is complemented by a “rough-cut” of an alternative version, though the jarring changes in visual and audio quality compose it somewhat difficult to devour by itself. Over-all, visual quality is helpful, I doubt you’ll score grand more enjoyment out of the less portable Blu-ray edition.

For all of their qualities, the recent two Terminator films – at least, as released theatrically – were basic killer robot fantasies with their depth being puny to surface level discussions of time recede and anthropomorphism. Some would argue that the Director’s Lop of T2 was a noteworthy step above this and I’d agree with them. But regardless, the first series of The Sarah Connor Chronicles managed to rise above the Theatrical versions of the movies: what seemed like another attempt to cash in on a pop-culture classic turned out to be a quick-witted, involving, thought-provoking science fiction series. This DVD location is definitely recommended.

Uses a birthday party event to allege some basic words and phrases. The context is easy to understand. The simple songs succor reinforce the learning. My 2 year broken-down watches this and we will probably both learn some Spanish from it. I like that I have the option to unbiased play the video and skip the exercises because my child isn’t faded enough for the exercises. My complaints are 1) sometimes the accompanying instrumental music is so loud that its hard to hear the words clearly. 2) It would encourage if they would attach the Spanish text up on the hide (as well as the English, maybe English in smaller text) . That would benefit when its hard to hear the pronunciation clearly. 3) The acting is awkward. I’m not sorry I bought it and will probably purchase more in the series, but I do wish that the creators of these things would witness at the product a tiny more closely before production because it wouldn’t have been worthy more work to build it noteworthy worthy better.

There’s a lot packed into this DVD. The DVD is split into 5 chapters with a specific learning theme. After each scene, the characters review what was taught and then follow up with a song or a DVD game. My kids enjoyed the games, the music and the kooky appealing Chihuahua that jumps in with the human characters. In the past, I had a difficult time getting them to sight Spanish with books and CDs but this DVD really had them fervent in learning more.
